About the Act
The Georgia Charitable Solicitations Act of 1988 (amended) is administered by the Georgia Secretary of State. It governs the registration, reporting, and enforcement of fundraising activities in the State of Georgia. The Act is supplemented by the rules and orders enforced by the Georgia Secretary of State.
The Charities Solicitation Act requires the registration of charities, paid solicitors and solicitor agents unless determined exempt from registration. The duty of the Charities Division is to enforce the laws regulating charitable organizations, and to ensure the proper administration of funds dedicated to charitable purposes.
The Georgia Charitable Solicitations Act is found under Title 43, Chapter 17 of the Official Code of Georgia. (O.C.G.A. 43-17-1 et seq)
