Georgia Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors Board

Information for Georgia Engineers and Land Surveyors licensees and applicants.

On May 5, 2022, Governor Brian Kemp signed HB 476 creating a new state agency that will be named the Georgia Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors Board. In the bill, the license renewal period for Professional Engineers, Structural Engineers, and Land Surveyors changed from a biennial renewal to an annual renewal. Everyone who is currently renewing or just renewed will receive a December 31, 2023 expiration date. You can see HB 476 in its entirety at https://www.legis.ga.gov/legislation/59723.

On August 11, 2022 the Board also voted to change the renewal fee from $50 to $100. If you hold both Professional Engineer and Structural Engineer licenses, you are currently required to renew both licenses annually for $100 each. The Board is currently having discussions that may ultimately lead to Structural Engineers needing to carry only one license. Please check here regularly for updates.
