Pursuant to the preliminary injunction issued by the U.S District Court for the Northern District of Georgia in United States of America v. State of Georgia, et al., Secretary Kemp has important new information for Georgia's Military and Overseas Voters (UOCAVA Voters) registered to vote in any county located within one of the following United States Congressional Districts: 2, 3, 4, 9, 11 or 12.

In the event the July 31, 2012 Primary Election in any Congressional District referenced above results in a runoff election, the deadline for receipt of ballots from UOCAVA Voters eligible to vote in such runoff election has been extended by seven days, until August 31, 2012. Ballots from UOCAVA Voters must be executed and sent no later than 7:00 p.m. EDT on August 21, 2012 and received no later than August 31, 2012 in order to be counted, if otherwise valid.

Georgia will send ballots to UOCAVA Voters via mail, fax, or email upon request of the UOCAVA Voter. Instructions explaining how to return a primary runoff ballot by email, fax, or express mail return will be sent to each eligible UOCAVA Voter.

Additionally, as soon as possible prior to any August 21, 2012 federal primary runoff election, if held, Georgia will send by express delivery service an official absentee ballot to any UOCAVA voters registered in United States Congressional Districts 2, 3, 4, 9, 11, and 12, who requested to receive their ballot by mail, and who is registered to vote in a district in which a runoff will be held.
