Secretary of State Kemp Certifies Results in State Senate Districts 28 and 50 and State House District 25 Special Runoff Elections
Atlanta – Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp today certified the results for the December 6, 2011 special runoff elections in State Senate Districts 28 and 50 and State House District 25. The certified results can be found on the Secretary of State’s website: http://sos.ga.gov/elections. Candidate Mike Crane was declared the winner in State Senate District 28; candidate John K. Wilkinson was declared the winner in State Senate District 50; and candidate Emory West Dunahoo, Jr. was declared the winner in State House District 25.
In certifying the results, the Secretary of State affirmed that all counties have provided to the state the total votes tabulated for each state candidate. Further, the Secretary of State affirms that the returns are a true and correct tabulation of the certified returns received by this office from each county. Certification does not preclude the state from continuing any current investigations related to the special elections, or from pursuing any future allegations that may arise from these elections.
Brian Kemp has been Secretary of State since January, 2010. Among the office’s wide-ranging responsibilities, the Secretary of State is charged with conducting efficient and secure elections, the registration of corporations, and the regulation of securities and professional license holders. The office also oversees the Georgia Archives.
