Actions Taken by the State Election Board at its September 24 Meeting

Atlanta—The Georgia State Election Board held its quarterly meeting on Wednesday, September 24, 2008.

The Board voted to close the following cases:

  • SEB Case No. 2007-000034 City of Tybee Island
  • SEB Case No. 2007-000043 City of Buena Vista
  • SEB Case No. 2007-000047 City of Darien
  • SEB Case No. 2008-000009 City of Darien
  • SEB Case No. 2008-000019 Carroll County PPP
  • SEB Case No. 2008-000021 Cherokee County
  • SEB Case No. 2008-000059 Talbot County

The Board voted to forward the following cases to the Attorney General’s Office:

  • SEB Case No. 2007-000039 City of Mount Airy
  • SEB Case No. 2007-000042 City of Byromville
  • SEB Case No. 2007-000045 City of Plains
  • SEB Case No. 2008-000001 City of Arlington
  • SEB Case No. 2008-000002 City of Lovejoy
  • SEB Case No. 2008-000003 North High Shoals
  • SEB Case No. 2008-000005 City of Sparta
  • SEB Case No. 2008-000006 McIntosh County
  • SEB Case No. 2008-000014 Randolph County

The Board voted to forward the following cases to the Attorney General’s Office for a letter of instruction to DeKalb County:

  • SEB Case No. 2008-000025 DeKalb County PPP

The Board voted to grant continuances in the following cases:

  • SEB Case No. 2007-000028 City of Greenville
  • SEB Case No. 2008-000007 Anthony Scott Hobbs
  • SEB Case No. 2008-000035 Paulding County

The Board voted to table to following cases for further review:

  • SEB Case No. 2007-000022 Fannin County

The Board did not take action on the following case because it lacked jurisdiction:

  • SEB Case No. 2008-000061 Zep Sales and Service

The Board voted to accept the following Consent Orders from the Attorney General’s Office:

  • SEB Case No. 2006-000027 Fannin County
  • SEB Case No. 2007-000009 City of Byromville

Matthew Carrothers, Director of Media Relations for the Secretary of State, provided the Board with an overview of the education and outreach plan for the photo identification requirement prior to the November 4, 2008 General Primary.

Elections Division Director Wes Tailor briefed the Board on the activities of the Elections Division.
