Secretary Handel Sets Dates for Qualifying for 127th State House District Special Election
Voters have until October 9 to register

ATLANTA—Secretary of State Karen Handel announced today the qualifying dates for the Special Election to fill State House District 127. The seat was left vacant with the resignation of Rep. Mack Crawford. Governor Perdue has set the election for November 6, 2007.

Secretary Handel set the dates for qualifying for Monday, August 27 through Wednesday, August 29, 2007. Qualifying on Monday and Tuesday will run from 9 am until 5:30 pm. On Wednesday, qualifying will run from 9 am until 12 noon. Qualifying will be held in the Elections Division of the Office of Secretary of State, 1104 West Tower, 2 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, SE, Atlanta, Georgia 30334-1505. 

The election will be held November 6. A run-off election, if necessary, will be held December 4. The qualifying fee is $400. The election will be held in Pike County as well as portions of Upson and Lamar Counties.

All citizens residing in the State House District who wish to vote in the special election can register to vote through October 9. Voter registration forms can be obtained at http://www.sos.state.ga.us/elections, at local Georgia Department of Driver Services office, or at any public library.   Registration Applications may be mailed to the voter’s county registrar’s office:

Polls will be open from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 6, 2007.
