Secretary of State Brian Kemp Certifies Special Runoff Elections in
State Senate District 11 and House District 21

Atlanta – Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp today certified the results for the February 5 Special Runoff Election in the 11^th State Senate District and the 21^st State House District. The certified results can be found on the Secretary of State’s website: http://sos.georgia.gov/elections.

The final tally is as follows:

SD 11

Dean Burke:  7,739 votes, 58.43%

Mike Keown:   5,507 votes, 41.57%

HD 21

Scot Turner: 903 votes, 60.12%

Brian Laurens: 599 votes, 39.88%

In certifying the results, Secretary of State Kemp affirmed that all counties in the 11^th State Senate District and the 21^st State House District have provided to the State the total votes tabulated for each candidate. Further, Secretary of State Kemp affirms that the returns are a true and correct tabulation of the certified returns received by this office from each county.

Certification does not preclude the state from continuing any current investigations related to the General Primary Run-off or from pursuing any future allegations that may arise from the election.

Brian Kemp has been Secretary of State since January, 2010. Among the office’s wide-ranging responsibilities, the Secretary of State is charged with conducting efficient and secure elections, the registration of corporations, and the regulation of securities and professional license holders. The office also oversees the Georgia Archives.
