Actions Taken by the Georgia State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at its October 27 Meeting
Macon, Ga.—The Georgia State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology met Friday, October 23, 2009.
The Board voted to adopt the following policies:
- Use of Topical Anesthetics: Georgia law does not allow Speech-Language Pathologists to administer prescription medications. Speech-Language Pathologists are only permitted to administer over-the-counter medications.
- Prosthetics and Orthotics: Georgia law requires Speech-Language Pathologists to be licensed by the Georgia Composite Medical Board in order to fit or place prosthetics and/or orthotics.
The Georgia State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology will hold its next meeting Monday, November 16, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards Division office in Macon.
