Actions Taken by the Georgia Board of Nursing Home Administrators at its March 26 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia Board of Nursing Home Administrators met on Thursday, March 26, 2009.

The Board voted to post the following rule amendments for the minimum 30-day requirement upon the receipt of the memo of authority by the Assistant Attorney General, Scarlett Elliott:   

• Rule 393-3.02 Licensure Requirements: Adds the statement: “minimum of 1000 hours worked” and “minimum of 2000 hours worked” in sub-chapters (d) (iii) and (d) (iv) of the rule to clarify the total required minimum number of hours required to be obtained in during the Administrator in Training (AIT) time period.
• Rule 393-4.02 Georgia Board-Approved AIT Program Requirements: Clarifies the extension of the AIT programs of those working less than 40 hours so that the total number of required hours is obtained as noted in Board rule 393-3-.02.
• Rule 393-5-.03 Reinstatement: Reduces the number of Contact Hours or Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) required for licensure.
• Rule 393-13-.01 Requirements: Changes the number of online clock hours that may be obtained for Continuing Education Hours credit.

Dr. Dennis Taylor of Dublin was sworn in as the new ex-offio member representing the Department of Community Health. Additionally, Sheila Weddon of Waynesboro retired from the Board and David Dunbar of Atlanta resigned from the Board.

The Georgia Board of Nursing Home Administrators will hold its next meeting Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards in Macon.
