Actions Taken by the Georgia State Board of Athletic Trainers at its February 24 Meeting
Macon, Ga.—The Georgia State Board of Athletic Trainers met Tuesday, February 24, 2009.
The Board voted to accept a consent order for licensure reinstatement for Lara K. Sikes, Dacula.
The Board voted to post revisions to the Rules as follows:
- 53-2-.03 Athletic Trainer. Amended. Further defines athletic trainer practice, provides an exemption for first responders providing basic first aid and allows an exemption to athletic trainers working events that last 14 days or less.
- 53-2-.06 Athletic Injury. The proposed rule amendment mimics the law, thereby decreasing the chance of misinterpretation.
- 53-4-.02 NATA Certified. The proposed rule amendment revises the name of the current Athletic Training certification body.
- 53-6-.01 Renewal of License. Continuing Education. The rule amendment allows BOC continuing education to be utilized to meet continuing education requirements.
- 53-6-.05 Continuing Education Acceptable to the Board. The rule amendment clarifies continuing education allowed by the Board.
The Georgia State Board of Athletic Trainers will hold its next meeting Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards in Macon.
