Actions Taken by the Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies at its May 29 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies held its meeting on Thursday, May 29, 2008.

The Board accepted the following Voluntary Cease and Desist Orders for unlicensed practice:

• Kevin Rainey of Executive of Duty Security/E O D Security, Atlanta

The Board also accepted a consent order for the following:

• Dothan Security, Inc., Dothan, AL:  During inspections of the company’s three Georgia offices, inspectors discovered numerous violations related to employee training records and failure to keep required information in employee files. The consent order includes a $20,000 fine, requires the company to provide to the Board proof of all employees completing 24 hours of training from an independent Board-certified instructor, and places the license on probation for 24 months. 
• State Security/State Investigations, Austell: The consent order places the license on suspension for a period of one year, and an additional fine of $2,000 is included for violation of a previous consent order.
• Top Flight Investigative Services, LLC and Cornealous Tillman, Garden City:  Unlicensed practice prior to licensure. The consent order grants Top Flight Investigative Services, LLC a private detective agency license and Cornealous Tillman a registration as a private detective employee with concealed weapon permit. The consent order also includes a fine of $1,000, places the company license and employee registration on probation for a period of 4 years, and requires the company to provide to the Board proof that all registered private detective employees have completed a minimum of 70 hours instruction from board certified instructors.

The Board voted to adopt a policy to accept all Voluntary Cease and Desist Orders upon receipt and authorize the chairperson or his or her designee to execute the Order, and to authorize that the Orders be docketed and served. It is the intent of the Board that the Orders will be in effect upon docketing. The Board will ratify the docketed Cease and Desist Orders at its next meeting and include a list of the approved Orders in the Board minutes.

The Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies will hold its next meeting on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 9 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards in Macon.
