Actions Taken by the Georgia State Election Board at its December 10 Meeting

ATLANTA—The Georgia State Election Board held its quarterly meeting on Monday, December 10.

The Board voted to refer the following cases to the Attorney General's office:

  • SEB Case No. 2006-000019 Calhoun County: Cease and Desist.
  • SEB Case No. 2007-000012 Habersham County: Cease and Desist and corrective action.
  • SEB Case No. 2007-000014 Lowndes County: Cease and Desist and consent order.
  • SEB Case No. 2007-000030 City of Riverdale: Cease and Desist with reprimand, training mandates and fines.

The Board granted a continuance in the following case:

  • SEB Case No. 2006-000037 Elbert County

The Board voted to close the following cases:

  • SEB Case No. 2007-000023 City of Walnut Grove
  • SEB Case No. 2007-000025 Forward Avondale Political Committee

The Board voted to accept the following Consent Orders from the Attorney General's office:

  • SEB Case No. 2005-000055 City of Americus: Consent Order with a Cease and Desist, a reprimand, and a $600 fine.
  • SEB Case No. 2006-000051 Fannin County: Consent Order with a Cease and Desist and a reprimand.

In other business, Deputy Secretary of State Rob Simms presented a legislative update to the Board regarding federal and state elections legislation.

Elections Division Director Mike McCarthy briefed the Board on preparations for the upcoming Presidential Preference Primary, current and upcoming training, and county and municipal elections.

General Counsel Wes Tailor briefed the Board on Proposed Rules and Procedures of Rules.
