Secretary Handel Certifies July 17 Election Run-Off Results ATLANTA—Secretary of State Karen Handel today certified the election results for the July 17 special election run-off for Georgia’s Tenth Congressional District.
The county-by-county results can be found at the Secretary of State’s Web site, by clicking here. Secretary of State Karen Handel today transmitted the certified results of the Election Run-off, along with Mr. Broun's certificate of election, to the Governor’s Office, who will in turn submit them to the United State Congress. The Clerk of the United States House of Representatives will then set the date for swearing in. Because the difference in votes is less than 1% of the total votes cast, Jim Whitehead can ask for a recount of the votes. Under Georgia law, he has two days to do so following the certification of the results by the Secretary of State. |
