The Georgia Board of Athletic Trainers is a four-member board consisting of two athletic trainers, a practicing physician and one consumer member. The members are appointed by the Governor to provide consumer protection and public health and welfare through the regulation of the profession. The Board processes licensure applications and receives, investigates and adjudicates complaints issued against licensed athletic trainers.

In 2009, the spread of the H1N1 flu virus caused the World Health Organization to raise the pandemic alert level to Phase 6, the highest level. Georgia officials prepared for the H1N1 influenza campaign and the seasonal influenza campaign that occurred during fall and winter. While the H1N1 influenza campaign has ended, The Department of Community Health continues to build its pool of health professionals willing to serve as emergency response volunteers by signing up to assist with future campaigns (i.e. hurricane season). Important Announcement: As you should be aware, all Athletic Training Licenses expire June 30th.  They may be renewed on-line at https://secure.sos.state.ga.us/mylicense/Login.aspx?process=ren.

A current license holder has relayed to a Board member that he received a phone call from someone claiming that his license had already expired and that he could be reinstated if he provided a bank or credit card number to the caller, over the phone,  to pay for the fee.  Fortunately, this license holder did not comply as he rightly thought this was an attempt to defraud him.
