Actions Taken by the Georgia Board of Cosmetology at its October 1 Meeting

Macon, Ga.—The Georgia Board of Cosmetology held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 1, 2008.

The Board voted to approve one CE provider and one cosmetology school.

The Board revised its policy manual and adopted six new polices which will be posted on the web.

The Board scheduled its 2009 meeting dates as follows:

• Wednesday, January 14, 2008
• Wednesday, February 11, 2008
• Wednesday, March 11, 2008
• Wednesday, April 8, 2008
• Wednesday, May 13, 2008
• Wednesday, June 10, 2008
• Wednesday, July 8, 2008
• Wednesday, August 12, 2008
• Wednesday, September 9, 2008
• Wednesday, October 14, 2008
• Wednesday, December 9, 2008

Additionally, the Board will schedule a November meeting at a later date.

Upon recommendation from Department of Human Resources and Georgia Higher Education Assistance Corporation, the Board voted to suspend the following 3 licenses:

• Amber D. Newton, Savannah: Failure to pay student loan

• Daniel L. Clark, Lithonia; Failure to pay child support

• Jessie J. Williams, Jr., Phenix City, AL: Failure to pay child support

The Georgia Board of Cosmetology will hold its next meeting Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards Division in Macon, Georgia.
