Actions Taken by the Georgia State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors at its June 2 Meeting
Macon, Ga.—The Georgia State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors met on Wednesday, June 2, 2010.
The Board voted to ratify the issuance of 58 residential basic licenses and 34 residential-light licenses.
The Board voted to deny one residential basic license.
The Board ratified the acceptance of the following voluntary cease and desist orders for unlicensed practice:
- Kevin Johnson d/b/a Johnson Services, Hamilton
- David Florin Olaru and D&A Remodeling, Inc., Lawrenceville
The Board ratified the acceptance of the final decision for the following:
- Richard A. Dudley, Richmond Hill
- Robert Leonard Foster and Foster Construction, Inc., Chattanooga, TN
The Board voted to adopt the following amended rules:
- Rule 553-4-.01 Licensure Requirements for an Individual to Practice as a General Contractor in the Individual’s Own Name or Doing Business as an Individual in a Trade Name or as a Sole Proprietorship. The purpose of this rule is to suspend the requirement of a line of credit, to add “compilation” to net worth requirement and to accommodate the outsourcing of the exam.
- Rule 553-4-.02 Licensure Requirements for an Individual Acting as a Qualifying Agent for a Business Organization Seeking to Engage in the Profession of General Contracting in the Name of the Business Organization. The purpose of this rule is to suspend the requirement of a line of credit, to add “compilation” to net worth requirement and to accommodate the outsourcing of the exam.
- Rule 553-4-.05 Licensure Requirements for an Individual to Practice as a General Contractor in the Individual’s Own Name or Doing Business as an Individual in a Trade Name or as a Sole Proprietorship – General Contractor Limited Tier. Amended. The purpose of this rule is to accommodate the outsourcing of the exam.
- Rule 553-4-.06 Licensure Requirements for an Individual Acting as a Qualifying Agent for a Business Organization Seeking to Engage in the Profession of General Contracting in the Name of the Business Organization – General Contractor Limited Tier. Amended. The purpose of this rule is to accommodate the outsourcing of the exam.
The Board voted to post the following proposed rule:
- Rule 553-12-.06 Revocation for Failure to Renew and Reinstatement. The purpose of this rule is to establish reinstatement guidelines and requirements.
The Board voted to repost the following proposed rules:
- Rule 553-12-.02 Continuing Education-Residential. The purpose of this rule is to establish continuing education requirements for the Residential Division.
- Rule 553-12-.03 Programs Which Qualify. The purpose of this rule is to identify subject matters for continuing education that are acceptable to the Residential Division.
The Board voted to elect the following new officers:
- David Cyr, Perry: Chair
- Mark Hebert, Evans: Vice-Chair
The General Division voted to ratify the issuance of 72 general contractor licenses.
The General Division voted to deny one general contractor license.
The General Division voted to post the following proposed rule:
- Rule 553-13-.01 General Contractor Division Applicants Seeking Licensure by Reciprocity. The purpose of this rule is to establish reciprocity guidelines for the General Contractor Division.
The Georgia State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at the Professional Licensing Boards Division office in Macon.
