License Renewal Wait Times

The Secretary of State’s Professional Licensing Boards Division is diligently working on over 50,000 license renewals for professionals across Georgia. We’ve received almost 3,000 calls daily and are responding to every inquiry as promptly as possible.

In order to better serve professional licensees we remind everyone that inquiries should only be made if you have not received a confirmation e-mail by the 10^th business day that your license has successfully renewed. If you have not received this confirmation, please immediately contact our offices on the 11^th business day at 478-207-2440 where dedicated support staff are standing by. The most common reason for delays or incomplete applications is the Affidavit of Citizenship and Secure and Verifiable Documentation (SVD) requirement.  You must submit a completed, signed and notarized Affidavit of Citizenship along with a copy of your SVD.  Examples of secure and verifiable documents are driver’s license, U.S. passport, or green card. Please be mindful of your fellow Georgia professionals and DO NOT make multiple submissions of your documents via e-mail or fax. The documents are manually reviewed and duplicate submissions only delay processing times for both you and other professionals.

Reminder: Please be aware that blue pocket cards will no longer be mailed to licensees, please print a copy of your new or renewed license at this link https://mvp.sos.state.ga.us/printlicense. Important Message from Secretary Kemp Concerning a
Change in License Delivery to Meet FY13 Budget Cuts

Amendments to O.C.G.A. § 50-36-1 became effective January 1, 2012. Georgia law will requires all applicants for licensure, and all those applying for renewal of an existing license, to submit secure and verifiable documentation with their application.
