Notice of Commission Action


Pursuant to The Illegal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act of 2011, beginning January 1st, 2012 all applicants seeking licensure by the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission must verify United States Citizenship or provide proof of being in the United States legally.

A list of acceptable documents can be found here.

When applying for an license, an applicant is required to photocopy one of these acceptable documents and attach to the application. If at the weigh in, be prepared to turn over a photocopy of this document. Also, always have the originial at all weigh ins for review.

This applies to all individuals and facilities licensed by the the commission.

Failure to provide this document will result in not being licensed by the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission.


New Commission Policy

To be considered for a professional mixed martial arts license, the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission recommends a minimum of Five (5) amateur fights, three of which must be state sanctioned OFFICIAL events.  The commission also recommends a winning record before considering issuing a professional license. If you would like to be waived from this policy recommendation, you must submit your request in writing to the secretary of the commission, or schedule an appearance before the commission at the monthly commission meeting, or both.

About the Commission

The State Boxing Commission, in existence immediately prior to July 1, 2001, is continued in existence subject to the provisions of O.C.G.A 43-4B. On and after July 1, 2001, the name of such commission shall be the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission. The membership of the commission shall continue unchanged except as otherwise expressly provided by this chapter.

The commission shall be composed of five members appointed by the Governor. Each member of the commission shall be appointed for a term of four years and until his or her successor is appointed. Vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired terms under the same procedures and requirements as appointments for full terms.

The commission shall elect a chairperson from among its membership for a term of one year. The commission may elect a vice chairperson from its membership for a term of one year. Any member serving as chairperson shall be eligible for successive election to such office by the commission.

If you would like to be licensed by the GAEC please go to the “Forms and Licenses” tab on this website to complete the application and submit.  ALL Mixed Martial Arts and Ticket Broker Licenses expire on June 30 of the year they are issued.  ALL Professional Boxing and Wrestling Licenses expire on December 31 of the year they are issued.  ONLY CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR LICENSES NO CASH

The GAEC will be having a commission meeting on Thursday June 21st, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.

Per board policy, all communication with the Board Commissioners must be submitted to the Executive Director of the Commission, Andy Foster.  If you would like to be heard by the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission at their public meeting you must submit the topic and comments in writing by the Friday before the meeting.

All fighters are required to fax/mail a copy of their current bloodwork (within 180 days Hep B&C) to the GAEC office AND have a copy with them at the weigh in.
