O.C.G.A. Title 25 -- FIRE PROTECTION AND SAFETY

Blasting Operations Generally

Citation: O.C.G.A. Section 25-8-8 Maintenance, etc., of blasting records.
Regulating Agency: Commissioner of Insurance.
Requirement: To keep a record of each blast, including seismograph reports. The required contents of a record are extensive and are listed in O.C.G.A. Sections 25-8-8(b) and 25-8-8-(c).
Persons Affected: Persons using explosives of a charge weight of greater than 200 pounds in the blasting of stone, rock, ore, or any other natural formation or in any construction or demolition work, excluding persons using explosives in agricultural operations and private and personal use of explosives in remote areas for such operations as ditching, land clearing, destruction of beaver dams and other such operations when not in close proximity to adjacent property.
Retention Period: At least three years.

Fireworks

Citation: O.C.G.A. Section 25-10-3 The storage, disposition, sale and inspection of fireworks.
Regulating Agency: Safety Fire Commissioner
Requirement: To keep a record of any wholesale or retail sale of fireworks for use in a public exhibition or public display and the transportation of fireworks for such use.
Persons Affected: Persons who sell fireworks for use in a public exhibition or public display and the transportation of fireworks for such use.
Retention Period: 18 months from the date of the sale.
