The Secretary of State’s Office Core Divisions:

The Secretary of State’s Administration Division consists of the information technology, press and front offices, and administrative functions including accounting and human resources.

The Archives Division identifies and preserves Georgia’s recorded history. The Archives offers several services from storing current public documents to allowing the public to search historical government information. Secretary Handel added the Capitol Museum and Capitol Tours Divisions to the Archives responsibility.

The Corporations Division provides Georgians with the ability to create corporations, limited liability companies and limited partnerships. The Division provides a wide array of business services from company name registration and new business filings to annual corporate renewals and corporate records management.

The Elections Division oversees state and federal elections and facilitates statewide voter registration. By setting overall state election policies, training local officials and educating voters, the division plays a key role in protecting the security and integrity of Georgia elections.

The Inspector General’s Division was created by Secretary Handel to add efficiency and professionalism to the investigations and inspections processes. The Division oversees investigations and inspections of professional license holders, securities brokers and elections inaccuracies and fraud.

The Securities and Business Regulation Division regulates the sale of securities within the state of Georgia. Regulated securities range from traditional common stocks and bonds to more complex forms of investment contracts, limited partnerships, profit-sharing arrangements and hedge funds. The Division also oversees the regulation of charities and perpetual care cemeteries.

The Professional Licensing Boards Division provides administrative support services to 36 professional licensing boards that issue 197 types of licenses to more than 400,000 Georgians in various professions.
